Care about making real money?
Then identify your ideal customer so you can create a razor-sharp marketing message.
A message that makes people think “this is for me.”
If you have trouble finding your ideal customer (or avatar)… I have some advice:
Think backwards ad create your anti-avatar.
Here’s how you do it:
- Don’t think about who you want to work with.
- Focus on who you DO NOT want to work with.
Say you help influencers build back-end funnels.
You make your list of dealbreakers.
You realize you can’t work with people that:
- Have less than 5,000 Twitter followers.
- Don’t have an online course
- Are afraid to sell
You now have your anti-avatar: people with under 5,000 Twitter followers with no course that are afraid to sell.
Now you flip your anti-avatar upside down to get your ideal customer or customer avatar.
Think about how powerful this message is:
“I help people With 5,000+ Twitter followers make $20,000 per month with online courses.”
Way better than “I help influencers monetize their followings.”
So make your list of dealbreakers – the hallmarks of your worst customers.
Then flip that list upside down.
Voila!
You have your ideal customer.
Let me know if this makes sense.
